THE BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GENTLE SHEPHERD SCHOOL, INC.

This is the statement that inspired the founder of The Gentle Shepherd School, Inc. to establish the school, one which can provide quality education to the children in the community.

The Directress, Mrs. Melody O. Basa, one who has always been in the field of education realized that she can never succeed in her life as an educator if she continues to work as an employee. In order to put things and ideas together and to implement such, she believed that she has to be a deciding force in the entire school system. So, April 1984, she immediately prepared and submitted the PAPERS PERTINENT TO THE GRANTING OF Government Permit to Operate Pre-School and Primary School.

The first name of the school was The Good Shepherd Learning Center. Mrs. Basa started admission in a rented house along Dona Engracia St. Greenfields III Subdivision, Novaliches, Quezon City, Philippines, while the construction of the four classroom building on a lot along Don Alejandro St. in the same village was going on. It later became the place where classes in the Primary School were held.

The Good Shepherd Learning Center started with 100 students having an annual increase of 200-300 in terms of population. In 1986, when the Institution was registered with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Board of Trustees decided to change its name to The Gentle Shepherd Learning Center, Inc. in order to establish its own identity as there are already some schools using the said name.

In a little later, The Gentle Shepherd Learning Center, Inc. succeeded in having its Pre-School and Grades School Department recognized by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS).

During the school year 1989-1990, the complete high school has been put up and all efforts were exhausted to have the High School Department recognized.

All of these are the result of hard work, supervisory and management skills of the faculty and administration. Despite all odds, TGSS has continuously produced top caliber graduates who are now occupying strategic positions in government and private corporations.
